However, in order to improve the ability of ES to guide decision-making in practice, the ES-based decision-making (ESDM) needs to be further explored. Thus, this study summarized the connotation of ESDM, and clarified development approach of ESDM. Further, the ESDM framework was demonstrated in a structured approach. The results showed that although ESDM has been developing rapidly, the key components of ESDM have not been fully integrated in decision-making practice. This framework integrated key ES components (ES supply-demand, flow, disservice, stakeholders, tradeoff, and feedback) with their correlations and decision makers. The ESDM framework includes five components: ES supply assessment, stakeholder identification and ES demand assessment, ES flow path identification, target selection and multi-dimensional tradeoff, and decision-making and adaptive feedback. This ESDM framework enriches the multi-dimensional tradeoff of stakeholders' preference facing the ES delivery process, and provides comprehensive and scientific information for social-ecological system decision-making. The key issues that should be further investigated in ESDM are the mediating factors of ES flow, fairness among stakeholders, and multi-dimensional targets integration in decision-making. The important approaches for improving the efficiency and operability of ESDM include improving the ES assessment precision and strengthening spatial-temporal scale coupling analysis. With changing societal requirements in terms of the global risk-based economy, SCMs should be resilient and flexible to handle risk and quickly respond to disruptions. A food supply chain (FSC) is a critical global supply chain network due to its crucial role in meeting the growing consumer demand for edible products. Any disruptions and risks in FSC management (FSCM) may lead to irrecoverable and costly consequences; therefore, the resiliency of key players in the food SCM is very important. In this regard, this paper develops a decision-making model using the best worst method (BWM) and fuzzy measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution (fuzzy MARCOS) to measure the resiliency of key players in the FSCM with respect to different resiliency and risk factors. Sensitivity analysis tests to examine the reliability of the model are conducted. A case study of the agricultural FSCM of Andalusia Province of Spain is used to investigate the practicability of the proposed model. The results indicate that natural disasters and water system failures are two important risk factors with the highest weight coefficients, and excessive inventory was determined to be the least important risk factor. Moreover, supermarkets and wholesalers are determined to be the most resilient players in the FSCM of Andalusia Province of Spain. Given the economic vulnerability of many farm enterprises, and the concern about the sustainability of food supply for a growing worldwide population, these payments are provided to encourage food production. Despite this economic vulnerability, many farmers do not appear to run their business with the sole intention of profit maximisation. This paper explores various financial and non-financial influencing factors on the strategic farm expansion decision-making process of farmers with the aim of assisting policymakers and farm advisors to develop a deeper understanding of that process. As a result, agricultural policy may be more effectively formulated and advisory services to farmers may be improved. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 27 farmers who have undertaken strategic farm expansion decisions. Subsequently, the interview findings were presented to a focus group to probe them in more detail. A wide range of financial and non-financial influencing factors on the strategic farm expansion decision-making process of farmers emerge. Analysis of the influencing factors by the specific type of farm expansion decision undertaken and by farm type provides further insights. It is proposed that these influencing factors act as a cue which trigger a sensebreaking activity and cause the farmer to enter a process of sensemaking, culminating in a strategic farm expansion decision being undertaken.
